Page 1: About the project
We would like to invite you to take part in the Progression in Primary Languages research project. The aim of this survey is to explore the views of trainees, who are training to be primary school teachers in England. We are keen to better understand your views on the Key Stage 2 Languages Programme of Study, approaches to assessment of primary languages, and beliefs about languages teaching at this level (age 7 to 11). The project is led by Rowena Kasprowicz, Institute of Education, University of Reading and is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship.
We are keen to hear from any trainee teachers, regardless of whether you are on a general primary education programme (which includes one or two sessions on primary languages) or on a programme with a languages specialism. It is entirely up to you whether you take part and there will be no repercussions if you choose not to.
The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey will be conducted via a secure survey platform and any data collected will be held securely and in strict confidence for the purposes of the research survey only. Participants will be assigned a unique number whilst the study is undertaken. The results of the study will be written up as a report for the University and may also be presented at national and international conferences and published in written articles. The results of the study will not be presented in a way that will identify you.
This project has been reviewed following the procedures of the University Research Ethics Committee and has been given a favourable ethical opinion for conduct. The University has the appropriate insurances in place. Full details are available on request. By completing this survey, you are consenting to your participation in this research study.
