Thank you for your interest in our research on music and language processing at the CAASD laboratory in the School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading.
Our research is supported by the European Research Council through an ERC Starting Grant to Dr Fang Liu.
We are looking for individuals who fit the following criteria to join our study:
- Children or adults aged 7 to 65 years
- Native speaker of English or Mandarin
- No hearing problems or neurological disorders
- Either: cannot sing in tune or detect an out-of-tune note in a melody
- Or: have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
- Or: typically developing, having neither music nor language problems
If you are selected for further testing in our lab, you will be compensated for your time at £7.50 per hour and your travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Each experiment will last about 1 to 2 hours, involving listening to or producing some speech or musical sounds and/or performing some cognitive tasks.
All proposals for research using human participants are reviewed by an ethics committee before they can proceed. This study has been reviewed by the University Research Ethics Committee at the University of Reading and has been given a favourable ethical opinion for conduct.
